Nanni and K-Ships form a strategic partnership

In the ever-evolving nautical industry, partnerships are crucial for driving innovation and sustainability. One such collaboration that exemplifies this dynamic approach is the strategic partnership between K-Ships and Nanni. Together, these two companies are setting new standards in maritime solutions.

K-Ships’ introduction

Founded in 2005, K-Ships is more than just a typical maritime company: it is a 360-degree maritime powerhouse, offering a comprehensive range of services that set it apart in the industry. From ship management to naval architecture and design, K-Ships are uniquely positioned in Genoa and Messina and to meet all maritime needs under one roof.

Their core competency lies in ship management, where it supervises a diversified a diverse fleet of oil/chemical tankers, bulk carriers, and other ships such as ferries and barges.

But what truly distinguishes K-Ships is their holistic approach to maritime solutions. With a deep-rooted heritage in Naval Architecture and Design, they bring a unique perspective to the “New Building Table”, enabling them to provide unparalleled expertise in technical consultancy, ship designing, and modification with excellent optimization skills.

The reasons for the partnership

K-Ships’ strategic objective is to respond to specific technical requirements by providing flexible and adapted solutions. This vision aligns perfectly with Nanni’s extensive product range, featuring generators for the naval segment that span from 200 to 2000 kW.

Nanni’s products are designed to meet the highest standards of performance and reliability, essential features for the naval projects K-Ships undertakes. Moreover, Nanni distinguishes itself by customizing its products to meet the specific technical requirements of each application. This synergy between K-Ships’ flexible business model and Nanni’s capability to provide tailor-made solutions creates a powerful and harmonious partnership, perfectly aligned with the objectives of both companies.

Projects and future endeavors

A notable example of this collaboration is the project with the San Giorgio del Porto shipyard, the SG116, marking a significant step forward in the shipbuilding industry.

Built by the San Giorgio del Porto shipyard, this is the first methanol transport vessel in the Mediterranean. The vessel is equipped with MAN engines and generators supplied by Nanni, leveraging its know-how in marine solutions for optimum installation.

The vessel is equipped with a MAN 175D 1800 kW engine configured as a generator, ensuring reliable and efficient propulsion power. It runs on both diesel and methanol (Dual Fuel), and features an SRC system to comply with current anti-pollution standards (IMO tier III). In addition, two D2842 LE327 752 kW auxiliary generators with an SRC system are installed, each providing constant power for the ship’s systems. Finally, a 240 kW D2676 LE323 back-up generator ensures safety and continuity of operations in the event of an emergency. This configuration significantly reduces the vessel’s environmental impact, promoting more respectful navigation.

This project represents a milestone in the development of innovative and sustainable marine technologies.

Following this fruitful collaboration, the ICHNUSA project is currently being developed to equip a ferry operating between Sardinia and Corsica. The ferry will be equipped with three Nanni Q12000 generators, each delivering 355 kW. The delivery of this equipment marks an important milestone in the shared commitment to providing reliable and efficient energy solutions for the maritime sector.

Conclusion

The strategic collaboration between Nanni and K-Ships illustrates their mutual commitment to providing advanced marine solutions and meeting the needs of major naval projects. The SG116 project and the promising future of the ICHNUSA project testify to the continuous innovation towards sustainable and efficient technologies that these partnerships can offer to the marine industry.
